The moral depravity of Congress reached a new low as the US Senate gleefully approved an additional two billion dollars to what is euphemistically called the “cash for clunkers program.” Boiled down to its’ despicable essence “cash for clunkers” involves Congress stealing billions of dollars from future generations to enable greedy, self-indulgent constituents to purchase new cars. Sure, they dressed the program up to make it look good by pointing out how much it was helping the now nationalized auto industry and how great it was to get all those old gas guzzlers and pollution generators off the road, but they are not fooling those of us who still love liberty and want the suicidal squandering of our nation’s financial future to stop. This program is about politicians buying votes with money the government doesn’t have and obligating those too young to have a political voice yet to pay for it.
